Perpetual Profession marks the beginning of a Sister’s total commitment to follow in the footsteps of Christ through a life of poverty, obedience, and chastity, as a Sister of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration.

Our Vow Formula

“Trusting in the grace the Lord has given me in Baptism, I am firmly resolved to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the spirit of St. Francis and our foundress Mother Maria Theresia.

Therefore, in the presence of this community, I vow to God to live until death in poverty, obedience, and chastity according to the Rule of the Third Order Regular of St. Francis and the Constitution of the Sisters of St. Francis of Perpetual Adoration.

With all my heart I entrust myself to this religious family, that strengthened by the grace of the Holy Spirit and the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, St. Joseph, and all the saints and with the support of my sisters I will fulfill my consecration in the service of God and the Church.”

While no longer in initial formation, a Sister in who has professed perpetual vows enters into a lifelong process of continuing formation. Each Sister strives to allow herself to be taught and formed everyday through the exterior and interior events of life.

At the time of her Perpetual Profession of Vows, the Sister receives a ring to symbolize her lasting covenant with God and her espousal to Christ.

“O moment of death, O most decisive moment on which depends my eternity! Remain always before my soul, that the thought of you may sanctify every moment of my life.”

~ Blessed Maria Theresia

Our Sisters are supported in their ongoing formation by participating in community events, making an annual retreat, setting aside a special day each month for reflection, participating in faith-sharing groups, and gathering with each other for monthly renewal discussions.
